You only get 250 characters to make sure you’re giving enough information about who you are so people can decide whether or not to follow. You also want to show your fun side a little bit, because Instagram is a social platform and if you’re not there to have fun, you might be missing the point!

Of course, the first thing you need to run a great dental social media marketing campaign on Instagram is a killer photo. That’s the biggest chance you have to grab people’s attention. Once you have them, you can use the caption field to share your knowledge, give people some surprising information, or just make them smile. A good dental social media marketing strategy has a mix of approaches in both the caption and the image.
Hashtags are also the big differentiator between Instagram and apps like Facebook or Snapchat. While those platforms are great for other reasons, they are not great when it comes to hashtags. On Instagram, you can use up to 30 hashtags per post. It is important to choose the right ones that will both get you in more people’s feeds and also target the RIGHT people. For some brands, just reaching the most people is a good enough strategy, but for dental social media marketing, it’s so important to get in front of people that can actually become patients (and ambassadors) of your practice.

Posting regularly is important, and remembering to choose a combination of professional-quality images, intentional captions, and targeted keywords is key.
